so my hopes of attaining a straight A(-s) report card for a semester has just been killed. and Fall ’10  doesn’t seem so sprightly after. Considering Remedial Trainings for my IPPT (damn you standing broad jump!) and the damn NS deferment (MINDEF, you are extremely contradicting in not allowing SIM Full Time students deferment for their studies), I can forsee myself having A- and B+s yet again.

i’m only typing this because, my current lecture is really boring. and people whom know me know that i ALWAYS pay attention in class unless the professor starts to stray off the syllabus or that the prof reads off the slides. This professor is even better, intentionally using cheem words to throw us off (or maybe, to hide something from us..)

So my grades for the 2nd semester have been uploaded.

There’s only a slight tinge of disappointment, but this sorta disappointment would warrant other people to throw eggs at me.

So Interpersonal Communication was the expected A, so no qualms about it hitting an A as well. I guess it kinda worked for me even more so, considering all the relational pain I’ve been through getting my heart broken. I guess face-saving techniques and relational maintenance came naturally after all that heartache.

Statistics in Social Sciences (SOC294) is THE module that pulled everything down. I think Audrey and I are contemplating on retaking it in Spring 11, to go through the rigorous hell of a magic carpet ride with Princess Jasmine. Meh. Well, a minimum C grade is in order to get into our majors (according to UB standards) so I’m extremely relieved.

Research Paper writing aka ESL408 was rather unjustified. As much as this grade could have made any kid happy, I wanted a non-negative A. I will shut up now. But this was a module I really enjoyed so now to find a suitable semester to retake my Written English aka ESL407 (a B+ is gross for ESL407!)

Organizational Communication (COM217) was probably a mood lifter. Considering the erratic grading system of the professor, I expected no more than a B but was greeted with an A-. I could so remember the day I screamed out loud at 313 Orchard upon checking my results. Ha! Scared the crap outta Christina with my dilated pupils and hoarse voice. Mega kudos to Adrian, Pathma & Christina, as well as Willin Low from Wild Rocket for being part of the group project. 92% is an effing high score to beat, bitches!

Introduction to Psychology fared better than I thought. Getting a B+ after my disappointing mid sem exams was a colon capital d moment for me. But through this course got me convinced that Psychology’s interesting as a core elective, but not as a major! I can’t stand memory work /slitswrist

Overall, my CGPA is sustained at 3.448, a slight increase from last semesters 3.338 so yay!

Next semester, we are looking at Public Speaking, Social Research Methods, Intercultural Communication & Mass Communication Theory. I’m looking at straight As or A-s for these! No more pesky math modules to pull me down (thanks SOC294 and MTH115, you’ve been a real heckuva bitch for my scores)

Go go go!

Aside from that, contrary to popular belief, interns don’t make coffee.

They buy it, but rarely so.

Being a Sales & Marketing Intern is pretty much doubling up in both hard-selling and aiding in the ways of “selling thyself” One day saw me thrilling through many fine dining outlets in Orchard retrieving some marketing materials we loaned out. Spread out from the regions of Tanglin to the pinnacles of Mt Sophia. Needless to say, the sun was blazing hot but there was still rain in my outfit.

Overall, I can’t complain much really. I am thoroughly blessed to have the opportunity to work at a magazine company (though not in the editorials team… for now) whilst doing summer school.  So this is definitely a colon capital d moment for me.

So my vision of doing 3 internships during my 3 year program is somewhat materializing. Marketing & Sales? Check. Now 2 more to go: P.R and Editorial.

The Ubangers Frasority went out for lunch together at the Manhattan Fish Market at Plaza Singapura. The air was full of euphoric bliss as the frasority is expanding beyond our batch of people.

I really wanted to go home and recuperate from the exhaustion of emotional turmoil the night before and mugging till 0230hrs at starbucks liat towers. ( I swear the walk home was a task ) Alas, the wonders of the internet kept me up and I eventually gave up and cabbed down for rehearsals.

the show went well and I quickly adjourned to Phuture after to surprise a few of my schoolmates there.

I need to set some goals in order to pick myself off the shelf of procrastination and non-productivity.

Below listed are my long term goals, goals and endeavours that would take a few months to years to achieve. I list these not only for the fear of forgetting (haha), but also to confess these so that fruition would actually happen. I tend to set goals and not list them, which eventually gets erased in my cranium, so I’m quite determined to follow through for this!

1) Save money to head down to Sydney to see my wingman Gideon.

Bromances like these cannot be too far apart!

2) Secure 3 internships – one each in the areas of Journalism, PR (Food sector preferably) and Marketing.

Up till date, I’ve secured myself with a Marketing and Sales internship at a reputable magazine so things are looking up!

3) Have a healthy CGPA of 3.4/4.

Meaning an average of 2As and 2Bs for a 4-module semester. This is a minimum level, so there’s definitely no qualms for aiming higher. eventually leading to a magna cum laude -crosses fingers

4) Driving License!

After procrastinating on it since my NS days, i’ve bought myself the QnA booklet and am determined to finish it up by the end of the year.

5) Abs and defined biceps

considering my body size, i doubt i can ever get an uber-flat tummy, so i’ll just convert them fats into muscles. Not durian seeds but visible ones, y’know, the kind that when I go topless at the beach, people don’t throw things at me.

So, considering that I have approximately 7 more months to accomplish -most- of these things, I do hope these will come into fruition!

now back to stats! i had a rough night, so I’m heading to bed and hopefully something comes up tomorrow that’s worth passing the exam lolcats fml

online flamers are out and facebook is the place to see and gossip. but some people may see the surface, but dig deeper and you’ll know that sometimes, not everything’s skin deep.

i decided to write here instead of the usual notes as i decided not to make it too conspicuous.

i am a straightforward person. straightforward, but polite. based on the situational context i’m in, i will still stay true to myself.

a very wise female leader did tell me that regardless of the consequences of school life, you MUST stay true to yourself.

and i am very grateful that i did. i did offhand mention to someone within the same CCA that many disagree with the working styles.

i’m glad that i’m the voice. and that i stood up for what i believed in.

good day touchmybeaver, it’s been almost a year since i’ve started this humble domain of thoughts, ramblings and incessant bitch fits.

i am glad i stayed through to my writing style and have never sought to compromise or accommodate my literary bravado (HAHA) to anyone, well except maybe a wee bit to the board of censors of Singapore (& wordpress)

it’s been good. that’s all i can say.

My year is a year of change. really! I never realized the leaps and bounds of personal and occupational evolutions i’ve had. Starting the year in a green uniform, an obese look and short hair paved a way of metamorphosis into colored hairstyles, long hair length, fashion faux pas and finally back to a relatively slimmer mug, short hair (with a tinge of color) and wardrobe safe attires.

it is damn fistgusting that everytime i have a plethora of thoughts and a myriad of issues to lay out here that my mind goes onto a mental Jessica Simpson – cute but blank. and i end up rambling on about .. i don’t know, pretty shoes or layman remarks, that hardly justifies what my cranium can handle.

and it doesn’t help that i keep on getting distrac… oooooo pretty shoes.
